FLATWOODS, Ky. — Alice Hopkins Black, 90, died Jan. 26, 2009, at Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods, Ky.
She was born March 17, 1918, the wife of the late Benjamin W. Black. She was the daughter of the late Harry H. and Ida Lambert Hopkins. Two brothers preceded her in death, Dr. Charles H. Hopkins and Dr. Thomas J. Hopkins.
She was a lifetime member of Central Christian Church of Ironton; a graduate of Ironton High School Class of 1936 and Bliss Business College in Columbus. A lifelong resident of Ironton she was employed by the Lawrence County Treasurer’s Office for more than 40 years.
Surviving are stepsons John O. Black of Cincinnati and Thomas P. Black of Ironton; stepgrandson, John P. Black of Meridian, Miss.; two stepgreat grandsons; a niece, Debbie Wolfe of Knoxville,Tenn.; two nephews, Dean And Jay Hopkins of Jeffersonville, Mo.; and cousins.
The funeral will be Friday 11:00 a.m. at Central Christian Church with the Rev. James Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home.
