FAYETTE TOWNSHIP — A Fayette Township family is homeless this morning after fire destroyed their Township Road 352 residence.

Matt Morgan, dispatcher for Lawrence County 911 Center, said his agency received the call for help at 6:40 a.m. Burlington-Fayette, Chesapeake, Proctorville, Rome Township and South Point fire departments battled the blaze while Crown City, Windsor Township and Ceredo, W.Va., fire departments provided area coverage for those communities that sent firefighters to help control the fire.

Two parents and two children were home at the time of the fire, Morgan said, but safely escaped.

“The house is a total loss,” Morgan said.

This fire came just hours after several departments fought a fire in Ironton that destroyed three homes and damaged two others.
