Firefighters battle South Point blaze

Area firefighters from Burlington, Fayette and South Point fire departments work the scene of an apartment fire Tuesday evening at 114 Ashland Drive in South Point. Residents of the apartment where the fire started were not home at the time. It is believed the fire originated in the kitchen but the exact cause of the fire was not determined at the time. Neighboring tenant Anita Young claimed to have heard an explosion in the neighboring apartment before the fire started.
