Memorial Day 5K run was most successful yet

Published 10:05am Thursday, July 2, 2009

The Veterans’ Memorial Day Race Committee would like to thank all those who helped to make this year’s 5K race our most successful race so far.

Thanks to the help of our sponsors and race participants we were able to provide two, 1-year scholarships to OU Southern. This year’s winners were Jeremy Fliehman and Amy May.

The race funds also provided a donation to the Boy Scout Troop 106 to help clean up the Memorial Day Parade route.

Thank you to our sponsors including Dr. Joseph Leith, The Fyffe Jones group, The Tribune, Bartram’s grocery, Bob Linn’s, 7-Up, Ohio University Southern, and our major sponsor, without whom the scholarships would not be possible, St Mary’s Medical Center.

Finally, the race committee and its sponsors would like to thank those for whom the race is named, our veterans.

Thank you for your service and your sacrifice without which we would not be living with the freedom this great nation provides.
