FRANKLIN FURNACE — Every dark cloud has a silver lining.

The Green Lady Bobcats had a dark day as they lost 63-35 to the Eastern Lady Eagles Wednesday, but senior guard Adrianne Blankenship still managed to put together a stellar game that gave her a career milestone.

Blankenship scored 24 points including four 3-pointers as she amassed her 1,000th career point.

Besides her scoring, Blankenship had 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Carlee Pollard grabbed 8 rebounds.

The Lady Bobcats were missing senior center Lauren Jones with an injury.

“Adrianne did a great job and she’s had a great career,” said Green coach Bucky Bridges.

“But we didn’t have that other person to step up and fill that hole (caused by Jones’ absence). I don’t like to make excuses and it might not have affected the outcome, but we do miss her.”

Rachel Staker scored 22 points and Courtney Rowe 20 for Eastern.

Blankenship came out and scored 10 of Green’s 10 points in the first quarter but the Lady Bobcats still trailed 17-12.

Blankenship got 8 more points in the second quarter but Eastern pulled away to a 34-20 lead.

The Lady Bobcats managed just 15 points in the second half with Blankenship getting 6 of those points.
