A Kenova man will serve eight months in prison for violating the terms of his community-controlled sanctions.

James Grubb, 30, of 1816 Sycamore St., was sentenced in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court Wednesday for the violations, which include failing to pay child support, testing positive for various drugs and also failing to report to adult probation.

Also in court Wednesday, a Coal Grove man pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity for a rape charge.

Johnathan Kazee, 19, of 727 High St., is accused of raping a 10-year-old male child between December 2009 and August 2010.

His attorney Warren Morford said his client’s low IQ makes him eligible for the plea.

In other cases:

Shelley Casto Curtis, 38, of 467 Thompson Road, Chesapeake, denied she violated the terms of her community-controlled sanctions. Bond has been set at $50,000 on her own recognizance and a CCS trial date has been set for Oct. 6.

Julius Sudderth, 54, 615 S. 10th St. Apt. 10, Ironton, admitted he violated the terms of his community-controlled sanctions by being charged in the Ironton Municipal Court. Sudderth was sentenced to six months in prison.

Ronnie F. France, 32, of 1618 County Road 144, South Point, denied he violated the terms of his community-controlled sanctions. A CCS trial has been scheduled for Oct. 6.

David A. Blevins, 26, of 2341 County Road 22, Ironton, pleaded guilty to a bill of information that included aggravated drug possession, assault, possessing drug instruments, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Blevins was sentenced to four years of community-controlled sanctions and ordered to serve six months at the SEPTA Correctional Facility in Nelsonville.

He was also ordered to pay a $1,250 mandatory fine and his license will be suspended six months.

Jeffrey Lewis, 32, of 516 S. Ninth St., Ironton, pleaded not guilty to one count of felonious assault. Bond was set at $75,000. A pretrial hearing has been set for Oct. 13.

Shawn D. White, 28, of 262 Nova St., Huntington, W.Va., pleaded guilty to three counts of issuing a forged check, a fifth-degree felony. White was sentenced to six months in prison.

Heather Pyle, 29, of 3349 Route 75, Huntington, W.Va., pleaded not guilty to complicity to aggravated drug trafficking.

A pretrial hearing has been set for Oct. 13. Bond is set at $50,000 cash or surety.

Robert Erwin, 31, of 279 Township Road 1034, South Point, pleaded not guilty to having a weapon while under a disability, aggravated drug possession and defacing identification marks of a firearm. Bond has been set at $25,000 cash, surety or real estate. A pretrial hearing has been set for Oct. 13.
