Mabel Alice Coffman

KITTS HILL — Mabel Alice Coffman, 89, of Kitts Hill, passed away Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Coal Grove native was born Jan. 22, 1921, the daughter of the late Ruben and Stella Boyd Kelley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Coffman, who died Oct. 27, 1992.

Mrs. Coffman attended Coal Grove schools and was a homemaker.

She was a 48-year member of Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five daughters, Linda Clement, Mary Clement, Donna Faye Coffman, Sandra Coffman and Wanda Coffman; a son: Lee Roy Morgan; a grandchild, Julie Clement; eight great grandchildren;

three brothers, Robert Kelley, Ray “Dick” Kelley, and Clyde Kelley; and three sisters, Hilda Clay, Dorothy Donley and Mary Willis.

She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Emmett Coffman, Cecil Jr. and Sue Coffman and Tom and Dorsey Morgan, all of Kitts Hill; a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Elmer Norris of Coal Grove; a sister, Rose Crisp of South Point; a brother, James Kelley of South Point; two sons-in-law, William Clement and Ray Clement, both of Kitts Hill; 18 grandchildren;   33 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Clifford Gore and Pastor Mike Long officiating.

Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery. Friends may call today from 6-9 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home and the body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church.
