FRANKLIN FURNACE — Elaine Salyers, 69, of Franklin Furnace, died peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, at her home following a long illness. Elaine was born July 26, 1941, in Antigo, Wis. She was the beloved daughter of Lalie Arrowood Cunningham and the late John Cunningham. Elaine was the devoted wife of Larry Salyers, whom she married on Feb. 27, 1960, in Bryant, Wis. She was a member of the Ohio Valley United Baptist Church.

She was the loving mother of Keith (Sharon) Salyers of South Shore, Ky., Melanie (Marty)McCoy of Franklin Furnaace, Larry (Amy) Salyers Jr. of Paducah, Ky., John (Jeff) Frazier of South Shore, Caroline (Randy) King of Franklin Furnace and Helana (Kevin) Darrow of Cincinnati. She was the loving grandmother of 14 grandchildren, the late Keith Jake Salyers, Sarah Salyers, Tyler Salyers, Jamie Sexton, Candice Hamby, Marty McCoy, Allison McCoy, Rebecca Frazier, Cassie King, Sammie King, Randy King, Chloe Darrow, Claire Darrow and Cooper Darrow; and one great grandchild, Corwin Sexton. She was the dear sister to Doris Burkhart, the late Edward Cunningham, the late Alan Cunningham, Frank Cunningham, Arthur Cunningham, Gail Priebe, Rosie Cunningham, Virginia Endres and the late Ruth Cunningham.

She was the best mother, grandmother and wife in the world.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Ohio Valley Baptist Church, Vernon Street, Wheelersburg, by Elder J.D. Riggs and Elder Don Neeley. Burial will be in Haverhill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg and an hour before the services Tuesday at the church.
