Orville and Betty Sanders will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on March 6, 2011. They were married in Clintwood, Va., on March 6, 1971.

Both Orville and Betty are lifelong residents of Lawrence County and have resided at 811 McGovney Ave. for the past 29 years.

Betty is the former Betty Smith of Ironton. Both Betty and Orville are retired. They are the parent of Rae Lynn Sanders Haas and Scott Douglas Sanders. They have three grandchildren, Brandon, 19; Rachel, 11 and Tyler, 8.

Rae Lynn is married to Gregory Scott Haas of Ironton. Scott is married to the former Emily Wheeler of Ironton.

Orville and Betty met in 1962 and were married nine years later.
