Mr. and Mrs. Fred and Betty Imes, of Ironton, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Melinda Jean Imes, to John Adkins, son of Vivian and David Adkins, of Ironton.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Ironton High School and is self-employed with Mary Kay Inc. She is the granddaughter of Juanita and Lewis Thompson.

The groom-elect is a graduate of Felicity Franklin High School and is employed as a laborer and forklift operator at TAB Remolding. He is the grandson of Charles and Ruth Harper.

The wedding will be Aug. 28 at Central Park in Ashland, Ky. with a reception at 2707 S. Fourth St., Ironton. The wedding and reception are open to friends and family.
