COAL GROVE  — John David Jones, 46, of Coal Grove, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at his residence. He was born Dec. 7, 1964, in Ironton, to the late Eugene and Judith Gannon Jones.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Nancy Walker; his sister-in-law, Jane Chapman; and his grandparents, George and Gladys Norris Gannon and Clance and Carrie Hurst Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Walker Jones whom he married Dec. 16, 1995; a daughter, Jacy Jones of Coal Grove; a son, Jeb Jones of Coal Grove; one sister-in-law, Jackie Walker of Ironton; his father-in-law, Jack Walker of Ironton; one nephew, Jacob Chapman of Ashland, Ky.; and one niece, Jaime Chapman of Ashland.

After graduating from Dawson-Bryant High School, he went on to get his master’s degree from Morehead State University and was a teacher at the Collins Career Center for 20 years. John was very active in supporting youth sports by participating in the Coal Grove Little League baseball, basketball and football programs. He was also a member of the Hornet’s Nest and the Ohio Education Association. He was also a member of the Community Missionary Baptist Church in Deering.

Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Dawson-Bryant High School with pastors Ryan Massic and Dave Lambert officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home and from 2-3 p.m. on the day of the service at the high school.
