‘Glad Tidings’ free to core market

For the first time in more than a decade, The Tribune will have a Saturday edition this week.

This special issue, dubbed “Glad Tidings” will be distributed for free to the core market area in Lawrence County — more than 21,000 households — as a way to give citizens more local news and some special holiday advertising.

“This one-time event is something we had considered trying for a long time and we feel the Christmas season is the perfect opportunity,” said Tribune publisher Michael Caldwell. “We want to showcase all the great local businesses that use The Tribune to get their messages out and reach a much larger audience than we would otherwise.”

“Hopefully this will help our advertisers reach consumers in a way that it makes everyone’s Christmas a little brighter and shows some non-subscribers what they are missing as well.”

The 22-page, two-section newspaper will be delivered to every household in The Tribune’s core market area through a combination of mail and newspaper carriers. It will be available in the red Tribune boxes throughout Chesapeake and Proctorville.

The content is all fresh news, not just reprinted items from the week. The newspaper will have all the regular sections of a daily edition including local news, opinion, records, sports, classifieds and more.

“We just want to expose more people to what The Tribune is doing. The newspaper was again honored as the best small newspaper in Ohio by the Associated Press this year and we want to make sure everyone has a chance to enjoy it,” Caldwell said.
