Elba Culbertson

PATASKALA — Elba A. Culbertson, 86, of Pataskala, formerly of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at the Pataskala Oaks Care Center.

The Yaguaraparo, Venezuela native was born May 12, 1925, the daughter of the late Carmen Domero. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Condit Culbertson, Jr.

Mrs. Culbertson was a homemaker and former cook for the Grandview Inn and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ironton, Ohio. She enjoyed cooking and sewing.

In addition to her mother and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Michael Greene of Pataskala; two granddaughters, Joanna (Jeffery) Sigan of Omstead Falls, and Danielle Greene of Columbus; three great grandchildren, Kendall Wertman, Braden Wertman and MacKenna Wertman all of Omstead Falls, and one sister, Carmen of Caracus, Venezuela.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, with Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call noon until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home. David Johnson

WILGUS — David Allen Johnson, 66, of Wilgus, born March 13, 1945, left his beloved family and home to enter his eternal home Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, from the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va.

He was the son of Norma Fulks Johnson and the late Charles E. “Chobby” Johnson. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by an infant niece, Judy Lee Johnson; grandparents, Chancey and Gladys Fulks Johnson, N.D. “Dill” and Sylvia Lewis Fulks; in-laws, John H. Burcham, Viola Saunders Burcham Hayes and Bill Hayes; and five uncles.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patty Burcham Johnson; two sons, Chris Allen (Lisa) and Chad David (Missy); one daughter, Denise Lynn Johnson; two grandsons, Jacob Allen and Joshua David Johnson; two granddaughters, Stephanie Nicole and Megan Marie Johnson all of Wilgus; one brother, Michael Lee (Margaret) Johnson of Chesapeake; a special 96-year-old aunt, Evelyn Johnson Cremeens; seven uncles and many cousins. Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, Dec.19, 2011, at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, by Brother Chris Johnson. Burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery, Crown City. Anna Henderson

Anna Henderson, 83, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at Kingsbrook Lifecare Center in Ashland, Ky.

The Columbus native was born Sept. 2, 1928 a daughter to the late Raymond and Jewell (Garren) Drake. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Richard Henderson.

Anna and Richard owned and operated the family grocery store, Henderson’s grocery in Waterloo for 18 years. Anna was a member of Arabia Baptist Church. She was also a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, mother in-law and was dearly loved by all her family.

In addition to her husband, Anna is survived by a son, Ron Delores Henderson of Deering; a daughter, Linda (David) Pope of Patriot; three grandchildren, Pam (Roger) Waugh of Patriot, Rick (Carolyn) Henderson of Bidwell, and Daniell (Roger) Joseph of Ironton; two sisters, Mary (Chuck) Engel of Chillicothe, and Sandy (Bob) Powers of Sun City, Fla. and a brother in-law, Earl Henderson of Proctorville.

Anna was preceded in death by a son, Edward Earl Henderson; a brother, Raymond Drake and two sisters, Pauline Schwartz and Edna Henderson.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Tracy Brammer – Monroe Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Henderson officiating. Interment will follow at Slab Fork Cemetery in Pedro. Joyce Miles

COLUMBUS — Joyce A. (Fisher) Miles, 85, of Columbus, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011. She was the wife of Harold “Hal” Miles, who survives. Memorial celebration service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 5100 Karl Road, Columbus.

 

Brian Lowe

WESTWOOD, Ky. — Brian S. Lowe, 41, of Westwood, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011 at King’s Daughters Medical Center. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Preston Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow in East Ashland-Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

 

Lowell Hunt

CELINA — Lowell T. Hunt, 68, of Celina, passed away at Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at his residence.

He was born May 17, 1943, in Ironton to the late Clyde and Muriel (Thomas) Hunt. On Jan. 28, 1969 he married Jerelyn Buschur, who lives in Celina.

Also surviving is his son, Eric (Pamela) Hunt of Celina; daughters, Sonya (Rick) Tester of Celina, Becky (Darrin) Regedanz of Celina, Kimberly (Rick) Wallace of Columbus, and Angela Piper of Dayton; four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, brothers, Herman and Owen Hunt, and his sister Linda Jenkins.

Lowell graduated from Rock Hill High School in Ironton. He served in the United States Air Force, as a medical service specialist from May 8, 1967 until May 7, 1971 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton. Lowell was a disabled veteran. He retired from Buschur’s Refrigeration & Air Conditioning.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina with the Rev. Justin M. Fuhrmann and Deacon Jerry Buschur officiating. Military Honors will follow the memorial service at the Funeral Home, conducted by the Celina American Legion 210 and the Celina V.F.W. Post 5713. Judy Triplett

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Judy Gayle Triplett, 50, of Huntington, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at her residence. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 2650 North Terrace, Huntington. Carl Malone

Carl E. Malone, 79, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at a local health care center.

The Lawrence County native was born July 5, 1932, the son of the late Pearlie 0. and Eva Hysel Malone. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ora Joyce Ash Malone, whom he married March 19, 1953.

Mr. Malone attended Kills Hill High School and was a U.S. Army retired veteran. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and other awards while serving during the Korean War.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Jean Malone.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John E. and Laura Malone of Coal Grove; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy Sue and Steve Morrison of Coal Grove; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Jo Malone of Springfield, and George and Ruth Malone of Pedro; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Kathleen Holston, Dods and Gary Cremeans, all of Ironton and Leona and Charles Thompson of Pedro; one grandchild and one great grandchild.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Woodland Cemetery with Pastor Scott Jenkins officiating. There will be no public visitation. Phillips Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. June Richards

HOLT, Fla. — June Richards, 86, of Holt, formerly of Coal Grove, Ohio, peacefully passed away Friday, Dec. 16, 2011.

June was a member of Soveriegn Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Coal Grove, and worked at the Lawrence County Community Action in Ironton.

June was born on May 18, 1925, in Coal Grove to parents David Harold Vaughan and Rose Frazier Vaughan. She was preceeded in death by her brothers Norm, Lowell, Dick, and Doug Vaughan and his surviving wife Mary Agnus Vaughan.

She is survived by her children, David Richards and wife Sandy, Beverly Richards, Richard (Dick) Richards and wife Rose, Jeanette and husband Milt Lester, and Jennifer and husband Grant Elliott. Grandma Jelly Bean had 11 grandchildren, Heather Dutey, Shannon Strodhoff, Andrea DeMarcus, Joey Lester, Kara Lester, Kyle Richards, Jason Richards, Justin Richards, Josh Richards, Tori Richards, and Sierra Elliott. She had nine great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are entrusted to Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in Crestview, FL. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
