Akron slip past Bobcats 68-63

AKRON (AP) — Zeke Marshall scored 17 points to lead Akron in a 68-63 win over Ohio on Saturday, tying a season high with the Zips’ fourth consecutive win.

Nick Harney and Brett McClanahan added 10 points apiece for the Zips (11-6, 3-0 Mid-American Conference).

Ohio led 30-29 at the break. The Zips were down 57-55 with 4 1/2 minutes to play, but Alex Abreu scored all of his five points in just over two minutes to help spark a Zips run. His 3-pointer and jumper fueled a 9-0 Akron run, and the Zips held on from there.

D.J. Cooper led the Bobcats (13-4, 1-2) with 13 points. Ohio has now lost three of four.

on the heels of a season-high nine-game winning streak.
