“These are pretty serious charges,” Assistant Lawrence County Prosecutor Mack Anderson noted in asking for the $20,000 bond.

Collins scheduled a preliminary hearing for Thursday.

Ferreira was arrested Friday after his wife allegedly told a doctor at Our Lady Of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky., that her husband cut her throat with a machete.

The woman was treated and released. Ironton Police Detective, Capt. Chris Bowman said the cause of the incident was a domestic dispute; he did not give details.
