Local resident named to Harding University dean’s list

SEARCY, Ark. — Senior Amber Mayo of Proctorville is among nearly 1,200 Harding University students included on the dean’s list for grades achieved during the fall 2011 semester.

The dean’s list is published each semester by Dr. Larry Long, university provost, honoring those who have achieved high scholarship. To be eligible, a student must be carrying 12 or more hours with a 3.65 or higher grade point average and no incompletes.

 

Business4Breakfast Seminar Feb. 15

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Huddleston Bolen announced the details of the upcoming Business4Breakfast seminar to be in Huntington on Feb. 15. The topic of the seminar is “Social Media 2.0: Catch the Next Wave.” It will be held 7:45 to 8:45 a.m. at the firm’s Huntington office.

Cindy Krantz will be the guest speaker at the event. Prior to moving to Huntington in 2011, Krantz was a consultant in the Manhattan office of J. Walter Thompson, a global advertising agency. There, she represented clients, such as HSBC Bank, Bloomberg Media, Johnson & Johnson, Macy’s, and A Diamond is Forever, as well as the tourism agencies for Mexico, Ireland, and Egypt.

Green Party Convention this weekend

COLUMBUS — On Saturday the Ohio Green Party will conduct its quadrennial Presidential Nominating Convention at Maynard Avenue United Methodist Church, 2350 Indianola Ave., Columbus, Ohio.

Activities include the nomination of the Green Party candidate for President, introduction of Green Party candidates for the 2012 elections, and informational sessions for Green Party members.

This is an open convention and all eligible Ohio voters and supporters are invited to attend. Only registered Green party members will be permitted to vote. Please pre-register on the Green Party website: www.ohiogreens.org.
