Lady Tigers roll to easy tourney win

It was a case of making a little bit go a long way.

The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers had just five hits but parlayed them with 10 walks, a hit batter and two errors to beat the Chesapeake Lady Panthers 15-1 in five inning on Thursday in the Division III sectional tournament.

Triggering the offense was Rebekkah Potter who went 2-2 with a home run and five runs batted in. Andi Kratzenberg did not have a hit but drove in five runs as well.

Ariel Whitt, Saige Fields and Kelsey Hackworth had the other Ironton hits.

Erin Wetzel got the win as she gave up four hits and walked just two. She also drove in two runs.

Caitlin Heffner was 2-3 with a double for Chesapeake. Sarah Rice was 1-3 with a double and Breanna Skeens was 1-2.

The Lady Fighting Tigers got a run in the first inning and then erupted for nine runs in the second inning to build a 10-0 lead and coast to the win.

Ironton travels to Fairland at 5 p.m. Friday in the sectional finals.
