An Oak Hill man is dead following a tractor-trailer accident Tuesday afternoon.

Ironton Police Chief Jim Carey said the man, identified as John R. Synder, 56, was driving southbound on State Route 93 when an “unknown medical condition” caused him to cross three lanes of traffic and go into a ditch on the northbound side.

The Ironton Fire Department and Lawrence County EMS treated Snyder at the scene before he was transported by LCEMS to Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky.

Carey said the hospital reported that the man had died.

The accident happened at about 1:45 p.m. and no other vehicles were involved, Carey said.
