Scottown man missing for 2nd time

SCOTTOWN — A Scottown man who wandered away from his home earlier this year is missing again.

According to a sheriff’s report Charles Shoemaker, 62, of 371 State Route 218, was reported missing from his home at 2 a.m. Thursday.

He had been monitored through the sheriff’s office Project Lifesaver program, but had cut off the ankle bracelet that’s the means for keeping tabs on a participant.

The bracelet allows the person to be tracked if they wander away from their home.

On March 13, Shoemaker wandered away from his home and was missing for 14 days. He was found walking along 20th Street in Huntington, W.Va., on the afternoon of March 26. At that time Shoemaker was not participating with the Lifesaver program.

During the time the man was missing authorities searched the Tri-State and even called in the Buckeye Search and Rescue Canine Unit. At that time when he was found, Shoemaker was disoriented and hungry.

Anyone seeing Shoemaker is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 740-532-3525.

I hope this man is found safe again this time. And that they are able to get him into a facility that is set up to cope with someone with his condition. This isn’t the second time he’s gone missing, it’s the second time it’s made the news. This has happened multiple times before and I just hope he’s found and taken care of before something horrible happens to this poor fella.
