Benefits planned for family who lost home in fire

Published 10:22am Wednesday, August 8, 2012

Benefits are being planned for the Emily and Michael Scott family, who lost their Lawco Lake home in a fire July 23.

The first benefit is 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday at Sharon Baptist Church, 2010 S. Fifth St. Ironton.

This fundraiser will include food for sale, glamour shots with Butterfly Photography and a display by Premier Jewelry. A percentage of the profits from the vendors will go to the Scott family.

There will also be a raffle at Rally On The River to benefit the family. A beans and cornbread dinner with live entertainment is planned for Sept. 1 at Lawco Lake.

More details on these two events will be available at a late date.

What part of the lake was their home located?

As a kid our cabin was nearly destroyed by a fire up in
Crazy Holler back about 1968. Lots of people donated to
help my dad thru the Elizabeth TwnShip VFD (who did a great
job of getting there in a hurry and putting the fire out).
