Hornets win 5-team match

PINE GROVE — The Coal Grove Hornets claimed a five-team golf match victory Monday at the Ironton Country Club.

The Hornets had a 174-team score led by Brent Morgan with a 37. West Union was second with a 178 total followed by the Ironton Fighting Tigers at 212, South Point Pointers 212 and Rock Hill Redmen 259.

Cody Davidson shot a 40, Brandon Adkins had a 47 and Justin Mullens carded a 49 to round out Coal Grove’s top four scores. Tori Holmes finished with a 59

Ironton was led by Jaylen Thornhill with a 48. Rhett Ball was next at 54, Cory Rawlings and Luke Diamond each shot a 55 and Brody Storms finished with a 69.

The Pointers got a 52 from Caleb Jones and Kyle Goodson. Austin Wellman shot a 54, Madison Riley had a 55 and Barbara Collins a 63.

Rock Hill was led by Aden Murnahan and Logan Boggs who each carded a 62. Logan Barcus shot a 67, Gavin Boggs 68 and Zack Brown had a 70.

West Union’s Bobby Welch fired a 35 to take medalist honors. The Dragons’ Kade Miller had a 46, Kyle Taylor 48, Troy Lanz 49 and Brandon Daniel 53.
