The Ironton Fire Department continues to investigate the cause of a Thursday evening house fire.

The house, which had been used as a rental, is on the alley at 312R S. Eighth St.

The fire broke out at 5:14 p.m., according to Ironton Fire Chief Tom Runyon.

“We are interviewing folks and sending samples off to the lab,” Runyon said on Friday afternoon. “This will take a whole lot of time to make sure everything is covered with the lab.”

Getting back results from the State Fire Marshal’s lab at Reynoldsburg typically takes at least a week.

The house was owned by Park Avenue Development LLC and was unoccupied at the time.

According to Runyon, the former renters were moving out and the electricity had been shut off.

There were no injuries reported.
