Judy Willis

Judy Gail Willis, 64, passed away from cancer Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at home in Bartow, Fla. Born Jan. 20, 1948, in Ironton, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Bessie Mays. Mrs. Willis was a Baptist and had worked as an executive secretary for the Polk County Sheriff’s Office for 19 years before retiring.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Larry D. Willis of Bartow; two sons, Matthew Todd Willis (Heather) of Madisonville, Tenn. and Ryan Nicholas Willis of Bartow; and her grandchildren, Joshua Matthew Willis of Orlando, Fla., Stephanie Miller, and Chance Matthew Willis, both of Madisonville. She also leaves behind her four brothers, Lewis Buford Mays (Ruie) of Flatwoods, Ky., Allen Mays (Linda) of Ironton, Estell W. Mays (Karen) of Ironton and David L. Mays (Edythe) of South Point; a sister Ruth Geraldine Allen of South Point; 16 nephews; and eight nieces.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, with Pastor Ricky Mays officiating. Interment will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery, Ironton.  Hayward Roush

Hayward Jae Roush, 86, of Coal Grove, passed away at home Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012. Hayward was born March 31, 1926, son of the late Frederick C. and Margaret M. Melvin Roush. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin and Jimmy Roush.

Hayward is survived by his loving wife, Mary F. Roush, whom he married on May 27, 1944; three children, Fred (Mary A. “Cookie”) Roush, Linda (Homer) Waddle, and Kelli J. (Scott) Vanderhoof; one brother, Frederick Roush; seven grandchildren, Krissy Waddle, Kory (Lilly) Waddle, Kevin (Carrie) Waddle, Erin Roush, Emily Roush, Wesley J. Vanderhoof and Bradley Vanderhoof; three great-grandchildren, Chassity Iery, Diana Waddle and Taylor J. Waddle.

Hayward was a WWII U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church of Coal Grove and a member of the Coal Grove Betterment Club.

Private family services will be held at a later date.  James Lease

James Allen Lease, 92, of Burlington, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2012, at his residence. He was the husband of Martha A. Holland Lease, who survives. Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, is assisting the family with arrangements, which are incomplete.

 

 James Meadows

James Bernard Meadows, 73, of Proctorville, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, W.Va. He was the husband of Becky Meadows, who survives. Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.

 

Terry Von Payne

Terry Von Payne, 51, of Scottown, passed away at his home surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012. The Ironton native was born April, 24, 1961, the son of the late William Earl “Billy” and Juanita Carroll Payne. He is survived by his wife Cindy Callicoat.

Mr. Payne was a graduate of Symmes Valley High School and was a truck driver for Pickett Concrete for 15 years and attended Linnville Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin brothers Jimmy and Timmy Payne.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Ashley Bryant of Proctorville; two sons, Andrew Payne of Springfield, Mo., and Dustin Curtis of Columbus; his twin brother and sister-in-law, Teddy and Becky Payne of Scottown; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Betty Payne of Proctorville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon and Billy Daniels of Proctorville, and Brenda and the Rev. Darrell Fowler of Scottown; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ronald and Wanda Callicoat of Willow Wood; and several special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, Ironton, with the Rev. Mike Triplett and the Rev Darrell Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.  Delores Reffitt

Delores A. Reffitt, 51, of South Point, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, W.Va. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with Pastor Jerry Sexton officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Lawrence Skeens

Lawrence Andy Skeens, 98, of Proctorville, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at Hospice House of Huntington, W.Va. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gracie Marie Skeens.
