Sciotoville East holds on to win slugfest with Bobcats, 50-37

FRANKLIN FURNACE — Justin Crager ran for 234 yards and three touchdowns on 34 carries as the Sciotoville East Tartans outlasted the Green Bobcats 50-37 Friday in a Southern Ohio Conference I game.

East (4-5, 1-2) led 30-13 at the half as Crager scored twice but Green battled back in the second half to get within five points.

Green (3-6, 0-3) took a 7-0 lead on Rob Applegate’s 28-yard run in the first quarter. He also had a 39-yard scoring run to start the second quarter to get the Bobcats within 14-13.

East got a 1-yard scoring run by Tyler Bradford and a 29-yard TD from Crager to pull away at the half.

But Levi Mollett had a 3-yard scoring run for Green with 10:19 left in the third quarter. Chris Applegate ran for the conversion and the Bobcats were within 30-21.

Crager scored to make it 36-21 but Green answered on a 1-yard run by Kyle Frazier and trailed 36-29.

Bradford’s 16-yard touchdown run before the end of the quarter pushed the lead to 42-29, but Frazier caught a 58-yard scoring pass from Chris Applegate who also ran for the conversion and Green was down 42-37 with 11:48 to play.

East got an insurance score with 1:40 to play on a 16-yard run by Bradford.
