Maxine Cox

Maxine Rice Cox, 95 of Ironton, passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Kingsbrook LifeCare Center in Ashland, Ky. The Russell, Ky., native was born Jan. 20, 1917, the daughter of the late John and Violet Davis Rice.

Mrs. Cox was a graduate of Russell High School and was a dispatcher for the Ohio State Highway Patrol for 14 years, retiring in 1981. She attended Christ Episcopal Church in Ironton. She was a member of the Altar Guild, Daughters of the King, and the Red Hat Society. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brother, Eugene Rice; and sister, Bernice Hogston.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Fred Weber of Ironton; daughter, Deborah Cox and her partner Jan Korns of Gambier, five grandchildren, Melissa Kellogg, Jennifer (Frank) Mullens, Philip (Lara) Weber, Nick (Mary Beth) Weber and Natalee McDowell; and 11 great grandchildren, Ashley, Justin, Korey, Cecili, Max, Ava, Mia, Rex, Caitlin, Taylor and Mary Evelyn.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hayes-Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Sally Schisler and the Rev. Robert Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
