WILLOW WOOD — The Beatles once sang, “It’s Getting Better All The Time.”

Symmes Valley coach Brandon Walker might be writing another verse to the song after the Lady Vikings 55-30 Southern Ohio Conference win over the Green Lady Bobcats on Monday.

Walker was pleased with his team’s performance coming off a loss to Portsmouth Clay in their last game.

“I thought we shot the ball better and took care of the ball better as a team,” said Walker. “We talked about things we needed to do to be successful and were focused on what we need to do to win games down the stretch.”

Kalli Hunt and Taylor Michael proved to be focused. Hunt had 12 points, 5 rebounds, 6 steals and 3 assists. Michael had 7 points and 12 rebounds.

Malenna Davis added 8 points for the Lady Vikings (2-1, 2-1).

“Taylor Michael had a big night all-around and I thought Davis played well. We had 11 kids who played consistent and played solid,” said Walker.

Symmes Valley scored the first 9 points of the game as they went on a 16-2 ru to start the game. Hunt had 6 points and it was 20-4 at the end of the quarter.

Gracie Waddell and Davis combined for 10 points in the second quarter as the lead ballooned to 40-9 at the half.

Giulia Elli scored 13 points to lead Green (0-4, 0-2).
