WHEELERSBURG — One bad apple spoiled the whole bunch for the Green Bobcats.

Green played Wheelersburg almost even for three quarters, but the Pirates outscored the Bobcats 25-10 in the second quarter and posted a 60-42 win on Tuesday.

“We played with them the first quarter, but they got three offensive boards and (Dylan) Miller scored on two of them,” said Green coach Bobby Blanton.

“We got in some foul trouble in the second quarter and Miller hurt us inside. They got too many easy baskets on us.”

Miller had 17 points to lead the Pirates (3-1). Derek Moore added 12.

Clay Applegate scored 13 and Rob Applegate 11 to lead Green (1-3).

The Bobcats were 17 of 39 from the field for 44 percent.

“I was happy with our shot selection for the most part, they just hurt us on the boards,” said Blanton.

The Pirates led 13-10 after the first quarter before opening up a 38-20 halftime lead. Both teams scored 22 points in the second half.
