PEDRO — The Rock Hill Redmen could have saved quite a bit on the electric bill if they had just hired Evan Morris.

The Rock Hill senior hit 9 of 10 field goal attempts and the Redmen shot 73 percent from the field as a team in a 53-48 Ohio Valley Conference win over the River Valley Raiders on Tuesday.

“We shot the ball much better, but our shot selection was better,” said Dave Hopper who got his first career victory as the Rock Hill head coach. “We wanted to cut down on the 3s we’ve been taking and get better looks. We executed much better.”

Austin Collins had 10 points to go with 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Morris had 5 rebounds and 3 steals.

Tyler Twyman scored 18 points including 15 in the second half. Seann Roberts had 12 points.

Rock Hill (1-2) took a 14-6 lead in the first quarter and it was 20-9 at the half.

Collins and Shane Harper scored 6 points each in the third quarter to offset 9 points by Twyman as each team scored 19 points.

Morris scored 6 points in the fourth quarter and Layden Delawder was 4 of 4 from the foul line over the final three minutes to help the Redmen fight off the Raiders’ comeback.

“They brought three or four storms with them in the second half, but we weather through them,” said Hopper.

Rock Hill plays at Coal Grove on Friday in a league game.
