WELLSTON — Although they rely on their defense, the Rock Hill Redwomen found some offense.

The Redwomen placed four players in double figures as they beat the Alexander Lady Spartans 67-63 in overtime Saturday at the Lady Rockets Classic.

“We shot the ball a little better and our bench played well again. Brook (Knipp) had another solid night,” said Redwomen coach Greg Damron.

“It was another team effort. We need everyone doing their job for us to win and the girls did that tonight.”

Knipp scored 16 points to lead Rock Hill’s scoring. Katie Johnson had 15 points, Lindy Simpson scored 14 including four 3-pointers and Kaci Russell had 12 points.

Russell scored 8 points and Johnson 6 as Rock Hill opened up a 21-14 first quarter lead.

Alexander outscored Rock Hill 17-11 in the second quarter to get within 332-31 at the half. Simpson drained a pair of 3-pointers in the quarter.

Knipp and Simpson combined for 11 points in the third quarter and Sarah Travis hit a 3-pointer as Rock Hill held its lead at 46-45.

Alexander came back to take a 7-point lead with two minutes left, but Rock Hill used a big 3-pointer by Simpson to tie the game at 59 and force overtime.

Simpson hit another trey and Knipp made two clutch foul shots as the Redwomen outscored Alexander 8-4.
