Flora Dailey

Flora “Jiggs” Dailey, 91, of Patriot, passed away on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at Holzer Assisted Living.She was born Sept. 23, 1921, in Lawrence County, a daughter of the late James Vincent and Elsie Mae Bradshaw Wilson.

She married Judson L. Dailey in Lawrence County on Nov. 27, 1944, and he preceded her in death on April 6, 2007.  Flora was a graduate of Rio Grande College. She retired after teaching school for 30 years in the Southwestern School District.  She was a Martha Holden Jennings Scholar. Flora enjoyed watching her students mature. She was a member of Walnut Ridge Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a Bible study leader.

Flora was an avid Bible student.  Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Philip Roberts of Patriot; a grandson, Stephen P. (Robin) Roberts of Arlington, Va.; a sister, Betty Ann (Thomas) McClure of Kitts Hill; a sister-in-law, Dolly Wilson of Pedro; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Lorna Daugherty of Jackson. In addition to her parents and her husband Judson L. Dailey, Flora was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Wilson and James Wilson and a sister Evelyn McFann.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Hall officiating.  Burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens.  Friends may call at the funeral home on today from 6-8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Wayne Malone, John Davis, Jeff Davis, Ry Daugherty, Steve Crawford and Eric Baker. Steven Conley

Steven Joseph “Pebber” Conley, 23, of Kitts Hill, passed away Saturday Dec. 15, 2012, at St. Mary’s Medical Center-Ironton Campus. The Ashland, Ky., native was born Sept. 23, 1989, the son of Steven Roy and Julie Cade Conley of Kitts Hill.

He is also survived by his wife, Amanda Webb Conley of Wilgus. Pebber attended Collins Career Center and was a 2008 graduate of Dawson Bryant High School. He was the top senior in auto collision repair in 2008 at Collins Career Center and enjoyed ATV riding and hunting. He was preceded in death by paternal grandmother, Lois Conley; maternal grandparents, Francis and Janet Cade; and uncle, Allen Jean Conley, Jr. In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by a son, Cameron Conley of Wilgus; a daughter, Madison Conley of Wilgus; a brother, Ben Curry and his wife, April of Kitts Hill; paternal grandfather, Allen Jean Conley of Catlettsburg, Ky.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Shawn and Sherry Webb of Wilgus; four nieces, Chelsie Curry, Kayla Curry, Kierstyn Curry and Peyton McFann; and three nephews, Jordan McFann and Logan McFann, and Miles Steinke of Colorado.

Funeral services will be 1p.m. Thursday, at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Triplett officiating. Burial will follow in Mamre Cemetery and visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Ben Curry, Dylan Cade, Markie Cade, Brian Cade, Aaron Cade, Mike Harmon and Jeremy Jenkins as the alternate pallbearer. Phillip Ferguson

Phillip Ferguson, 52 of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. He was a 1979 graduate of Ironton High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marla Faye Ferguson.

He is survived by a daughter, Sarah Ferguson of Ashland, Ky.; four sisters, Brenda Bundy, Lindilou, Bilreka, and Teneka Ferguson of Ironton; three brothers, Dale Ferguson of Chester, Va., Dean Ferguson of Ironton, and James Cecil Ferguson Jr. of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four uncles, George and Darla Killin of Ashland, Richard Killin of Ironton, Ronnie Killin of Ashland and Dan Ferguson of Ironton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jessie Shore

Jessie Shore, 97, of Ironton, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at Woodland Oaks in Ashland, Ky. Arrangements are pending at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home.

 

Walter Carter
