CHESAPEAKE — If Christmas is a time for sharing, the Chesapeake Panthers have the holiday spirit.

The Panthers had five players in double figures as they cruised past the Gallipolis Blue Devils 69-35 on Tuesday.

Javon Thompson had 15 points to lead a balanced offense. Austin Saunders scored 13, Nick Duffield had 12 points and Caleb Lindsey and Caleb Heffner scored 10 each for the Panthers (4-2).

“We had a lot of contributions from a lot of different people. We need to have that all the time,” said Panthers’ coach Ryan Davis. “We played pretty good defense and we shot the ball well. That’s usually a good combination for success.”

Wes Jarrell had 8 points for Gallipolis (1-5).

Chesapeake shot 26 of 48 fro the field for 52 percent and made 6 of 15 shots from behind the arc. Saunders and Duffield combined for all six 3-pointers.

Duffield scored 8 points and Javon Thompson matched Gallipolis’ first quarter total as Chesapeake rolled out to an 18-6 lead.

The Panthers outscored Gallipolis 14-10 in the second quarter to lead 32-16 at the break.

Austin Saunders had 9 points in the third quarter as he hit three trifectas in a row and the Panthers stretched their cushion to 55-27.

Davis emptied the bench in the fourth quarter.

Chesapeake will play in the New Richmond Holiday Tournament Dec. 28-29.
