S. Gallia gets past SV girls

MERCERVILLE — The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings’ offense was only working part-time.

South Gallia jumped out to a comfortable first half lead and went on to beat the Lady Vikings 51-36 on Saturday.

Megan Caldwell scored 8 points in the first quarter as the Lady Rebels grabbed a 14-9 first quarter lead.

Lesley Small scored 6 points as South Gallia pulled away to a 29-17 halftime lead.

Gracie Waddell scored 6 points in the third quarter as the Lady Vikings nibbled into the lead by making it 39-28.

But Symmes Valley struggled offensively in the fourth quarter and South Gallia outscored the Lady Vikings 12-8 to get the win.

Waddell was the lone Lady Viking in double figures with 10 points. Merranda Hayes added 6 points.

Caldwell had 14 points and Small 13 points to lead South Gallia (6-2).

Symmes Valley plays at Chesapeake on Thursday in another non-league game.
