SOUTH POINT — Now that’s a one-two scoring punch.

Kurt Adams scored a career-high 25 points and Brandon Barnes had 21 points as the South Point Pointers beat the Fairview Eagles 67-58 on Friday.

“Kurt can do that. When he’s in a groove he can be effective. We can hit 3s as a team,” said Pointers’ coach Chris Barnes. “We got hot in the second half. The first half we missed a lot of opportunities.”

The Pointers made 15 3-pointers as a team. Adams was 7 of 12 from behind the arc and Barnes connected on 5 of 12 from long range.

Brandon Barnes scored 7 points and John Johnson had 6 of his 8 points in the first half as South Point held tight to a 25-24 lead.

Adams scored 13 points and Barnes had 9 more in the third quarter as the duo scored all 22 points for South Point to take a 47-41 lead.

The tandem combined for 14 of 20 points in the fourth quarter. The Pointers went on an 8-0 scoring run in the quarter to break open the game and build a 15-point lead with a minute to play.

Brady Rickard came off the bench to grab a career-high 10 rebounds. Adams had 6 rebounds and Evan Johnson pulled down 5.

Johnson added 5 assists and Brandon Barnes handed out 4 assists.

“Brady Rickard did a great job for us running the floor, rebounding and helping us run our offense,” said coach Barnes.
