Charles Edwards

Charles David Edwards, 49, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at his residence. He was born May 28, 1963, in Ironton, to the late Lovetta (Smith) and Donald L. Edwards who survives. Charles graduated from Ironton High School and Ohio University where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. He went on to teach at Ironton City Schools and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ironton.

In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, E.D. Chick and Lona (Holschuh) Edwards; and his maternal grandparents, C.R. and Bernice (Williams) Smith. In addition to his father he is survived by three aunts, Patsy (McGurk) and E.C. Edwards of Seattle, Wash., Nadine (Smith) Malone of Coal Grove and Nancy (Edwards) and Glenn Bazell of Torrance, Calif..

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Woodland Cemetery, Ironton with Pastor Eric Barnes officiating. No visitation will be observed. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.tracybrammerfh.com.

 

Imogene Sites

Imogene Sites, 85, of Ironton died on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at home. She was a homemaker. She was born Nov. 12, 1927, the daughter of the late Gus and Stella Barratt Johnson and was preceded by her husband, Clyde (Bus) Vanhoose. Survivors include one son, Tom Sites of Ironton; and two daughters, Wanda McSorley of Toledo and Nellie Rice of Ironton. There will be no visitation or services. O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Richard McCane

Richard Allen McCane, 47, of West Union, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Southern Ohio Medical Center Hospice Center in Portsmouth. A memorial service was Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Lafferty Funeral Home in West Union. Visitation was Thursday. Mr. McCane was cremated and his remains will be scattered in Lake Erie.

 

Gary Bowman

Gary Bowman, 51, of Proctorville, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at the Cleveland Clinic. He was the husband of Bambi Bowman, who survives. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home.

 

Larry McSweeney

Larry H. McSweeney, 83, of Chesapeake, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2012, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was the husband of Maria McSweeney, who survives. There will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Hall Funeral Home.

 

Ann Vallance

Ann L. Oakes Vallance, 86, of Flatwoods, Ky., died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Trinity Station Retirement Community in Flatwoods. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods with minister J.R. Gullett officiating. Entombment will be at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
