BIDWELL — They could have filmed a Windex commercial Thursday with the way the Rock Hill Redwomen were playing.

Rock Hill controlled the boards, then converted their free throws as the Redwomen downed the River Valley Lady Raiders 73-60 in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“We played our best ball so far. We rebounded real well. The first quarter they didn’t get any second shots and we moved the ball well on offense,” said Rock Hill coach Greg Damron.

“We controlled the glass, especially in the first quarter.”

Brook Knipp scored a game-high 26 points — 17 in the second half — and Katie Johnson had 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Redwomen (5-7, 2-3). The duo combined to make 28 of 37 free throws and Rock Hill was 37 of 56 as a team.

Lindy Simpson scored 10 points for Rock Hill.

“We had people hitting some key shots throughout the game from everyone,” said coach Damron. “They kept fouling us until the very end and we were able to step up and make the shot. I’m extremely proud of our effort.”

Chelsea Copley scored 18 points, Shelby Brown 12 and Cady Gilmore 11 for River Valley (2-10, 1-4).

Rock Hill led 15-9 after the first quarter despite 5 points by Gilmore.

Johnson scored 9 points in the second quarter as Rock Hill pulled away to a 35-22 lead at the half.

Knipp had 8 points in the third quarter as Rock Hill extended the lead to 54-36.

Brown had 8 points and Copley 7 in the fourth quarter as River Valley tried to rally, but Knipp scored 9 points to help seal the win.
