If there were any concerns of a letdown, the St. Joseph Female Flyers erased that idea quickly.

St. Joseph built a 23-point halftime lead and went on to rout the Hannan Lady Wildcats 59-21 on Thursday.

“You always are concerned about how your team will play, especially at the start of a game,” said St. Joseph coach Nick Miller. “We did a good job of taking charge from the start and playing well. It was a good defensive effort as a team.”

Hannah Miller led the Female Flyers with 20 points and Amber Neal scored 14. Molly Miller added 8 points.

Hannah Miller scored 8 points and Neal 4 in the first quarter as St. Joseph raced to a 17-3 lead.

The Female Flyers’ duo scored 4 each in the second quarter and the lead ballooned to 30-7 at the break.

Hannah Miller scored 8 more in the third quarter and the defense held Hannan to 3 points again as the lead was an insurmountable 47-10.

The second team finished the game and six different players scored for the Female Flyers.

St. Joseph plays Tuesday at Fairview, Ky. The boys’ jayvee game is at 5 p.m. followed by the girls’ varsity and then the boys’ varsity.
