Cold shooting spoils Rock Hill’s chances

BIDWELL — The Rock Hill Redmen must have thought the automatic ball return was working on their rims.

The Redmen suffered one of their coldest shooting nights as they lost 56-51 to the River Valley Raiders on Tuesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Rock Hill was just 22 of 61 from the field for 36 percent including a mere 5 of 30 from behind the 3-point line for 16.7 percent.

River Valley was 17 of 40 from the floor for 42.5 percent. The Raiders connected on 20 of 37 from the foul line and the Redmen were just 2 of 6 at the line.

Austin Collins scored 13 points to go with 10 rebounds for Rock Hill (4-11, 1-5). Jacob Falls scored 14 points and Joey Stidham had 13 points.

River Valley (3-13, 1-6) was led by Tyler Twyman with 14 points. Justin Rusk added 10 points.

The Raiders led 13-9 after the first quarter and 26-18 at the half. The lead was 40-31 and River Valley held on as Rock Hill outscored the Raiders 20-16 in the fourth quarter.

Rock Hill hosts Coal Grove on Friday in a league game.
