PEDRO — The Redmen were Red-hot Men.

The Rock Hill Redmen hit 31 of 62 field goal attempts as they rolled past the Green Bobcats 72-52 on Saturday.

“That was our best game offensively. We executed the offense and we hit our layups for once,” said Rock Hill coach Dave Hopper.

In a loss at River Valley last Tuesday, the Redmen shot 36 percent from the field and a mere 5 of 30 from the 3-point line.

“We missed 18 shots from within five-feet against River Valley, most of them uncontested. We hit those shots (Saturday),” said Hopper.

Evan Morris scored 18 points to lead the Redmen (5-11). Austin Collins put up some strong numbers with 12 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists.

Layden Delawder scored 13 points, Joey Stidham added 11 points and Jacob Falls had 4 assists in the winning effort.

Clay Applegate scored a game-high 21 points to lead Green.

Morris scored 10 points and Falls had 6 points in the first quarter to trigger the Redmen who took a 23-8 at the end of the quarter.

Rock Hill went in front 40-21 at the half.

“We came out strong and that was big. We passed the ball well and we caught the ball well,” said Hopper.

Stidham pumped in 9 points in the third quarter as Rock Hill led by as many as 27. Applegate scored 6 points to leave Green behind 63-37

Applegate scored 8 points in the fourth quarter as Green outscored the Redmen 15-9.

Rock Hill visits South Point on Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game. Green hosts Portsmouth Notre Dame Tuesday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
