NEW BOSTON — It may have been Wednesday night, but it felt more like Monday morning.

The St. Joseph Female Flyers were suffering those Monday blahs early, but they came to life and rolled past the New Boston Lady Tigers 57-29 on Wednesday.

St Joseph was coming off a heartbreaking two-point loss to powerhouse Portsmouth Notre Dame on Monday. After leading just 12-8 at the end of the first quarter, the Female Flyers took off and never looked back.

“We were a little sluggish at first. Once we got going, we were okay,” said St. Joseph coach Nick Miller.

“It was a good win. Lynsey Booker has been sick and she didn’t start, but she came in and gave us a spark.”

Amber Neal scored 17 points, Hannah Miller scored 15 and Booker got 11 — 8 in the second half — as the Female Flyers improved to 16-3.

Kiersten McGraw scored 14 for New Boston.

Miller scored 9 points in the first quarter to offset a pair of 3-pointers by New Boston’s Eden Howard.

Molly Miller scored all 6 of her points in the second quarter and St. Joseph opened up a 28-15 lead.

Neal drained three 3-pointers and scored 11 points in the third quarter as the lead ballooned to 49-21.

On Monday, St. Joseph will host Sciotoville East in a girls’ junior high game at 5 p.m. followed by the junior high boys and then the varsity girls’ game.
