Robert Crawford

obert “Bob” Crawford, 79, of Arabia, passed away Jan. 30, 2013, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. While saddened by their loss, the friends and family he left behind are comforted to know he is at peace with his Savior in paradise.

Bob was born March 23, 1933, on the family farm in Science Hill, Ky., to Leighton R. and Stella Vaught Crawford. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by two brothers, Lindsay and Carroll Crawford; three sisters, Lucille Crawford, Zella Sears and Doris Ungetheim; and his daughter-in-law, Alice Crawford.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, whom he married in 1984. Additionally, he is survived by five sons; Steve, Ralph (Althea), Greg (Kim), Mark (Chrystal) and Dean (Alicia); a stepson, Lee (Tonia); a stepdaughter, Frankie (David); eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law; Lindy Sears; sister-in-law, Charlotte Crawford; and four nieces and three nephews who were very special.

A graduate of both the University of Kentucky and The Ohio State University with a master’s degree in animal science, Bob served Lawrence County farmers as the County Extension Agent for more than 30 years. He also served his country in the United States Air Force as a helicopter pilot. Bob was a member of McDaniels Crossroads Pentecostal in Gallipolis and also the Waterloo Methodist Church.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at the McDaniels Crossroads Church with Brother David Henson and Terry Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Bradshaw Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Military graveside rites will be by the VFW Post 8850. Pallbearers will be his sons, Honorary pallbearers will be Cody and Garrett Crawford, Charlie Shepherd, Adams Myers and Anthony Vallance.

Danny Casey

Coach Danny Casey, 62, of Proctorville, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville. A Masonic service will be at 7:30 p.m. today. Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home by Pastor Kevin Bloomfield. Burial will follow at Rome Cemetery, Proctorville. Jack Woodburn

Jack Woodburn, 85, of Ironton, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Kingsbrook Lifecare Center in Ashland, Ky. Arrangements are pending at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home.

 

Roger White

Roger Clayton White, 52, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Salem Community Hospital. The Ironton native was born July 16, 1961, a son of the late Stephen White and Margie Akers White Horn who survives.

Roger was a graduate of Green High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a laborer for the Ironton Iron Company and was of the Protestant faith.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffery Craig White.

In addition to his mother he is survived by four brothers, two sisters and his stepfather, Chester Horn.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Junior Furnace Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Lavender officiating. There will be no visitation. John McKnight

John Arthur McKnight, 48, of Coal Grove, Ohio died in his home Tuesday, January 29, 2013. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with Pastor Tim Holmes officiating. Burial will follow at Zoar Cemetery, Coal Grove.

John is survived by his children, Ashley and husband Josh Kitchen of Ashland, Ky., and Courtney McCabe and two grandchildren of Ironton. John graduated from Dawson-Bryant High School, Class of 1982 and lived in Deering his entire life.

John was the eldest son of Johnny H. and Carolyn McKnight of Coal Grove. He was preceded in death by his loving father and grandparents. He leaves behind a brother Larry McKnight and sister, Jodi McKnight Delawder as well as three nieces, Hollie, Hannah and Heather Bowman.

He also leaves behind numerous friends and family who will deeply miss him, his laughs and his kindness. Friends may call Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.slackandwallace.com.

 

 

Willanell Adkins

Willanell R. Adkins, 79, of South Point, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, W.Va. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville.
