LATHAM — Just call it a bad day at the office.

Nothing seemed to work right for Symmes Valley on Friday as the Vikings lost 55-45 to the Western Indians in a Southern Ohio Conference I game.

“We just couldn’t get any offense going. We didn’t play with any energy or intensity,” said Vikings’ coach Donnie Saunders.

Tyler Rowe was the only player in double figures with 11 points for the Vikings (9-9, 7-6).

Dakota Garrett scored 15 points, Chase Fite 14 points, Nick Shanks 11 and Ethan Riggs 10 for the Indians (5-16).

Riggs had 5 points in the first quarter as Western took a 14-6 lead. Jonathan Kouns scored all 5 of his points in the quarter for the Vikings.

Rowe scored 7 points in the second quarter as the Vikings rallied to tie the game at the half, 25-25.

Western went up 37-35 at the end of the third quarter. Dylan Malone scored 5 points in the quarter for Symmes Valley.

But Garrett and Riggs combined for 11 points in the fourth quarter as Western outscored the Vikings 18-10.
