Changes in dates for boys’ district

They are trading places in the boys’ district basketball tournaments.

Due to the Ohio Bobcats hosting a Mid-American Conference tournament game, the boys Division III and IV district finals will switch days.

The Division III finals will be play on Friday, March 8 with games scheduled at 6 p.m., 7:45 and 9:30.

The Division IV games will be on Saturday, March 9, with games at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m.

However, there are plenty of games before teams ever reach the district finals.

On Thursday, the St. Joseph Female Flyers play South Gallia in the Division IV district semifinals at Jackson at 8 p.m.

Also at 8 p.m. on Thursday the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers play Peebles in the district semifinals at Waverly’s Downtown Arena.

The Fairland Lady Dragons play their district semifinal at noon Saturday against Northwest.

The district finals will be held on Sunday, March 3, at Ohio University. Division III games are 2 and 4 p.m. and Division IV at 6 p.m.

The boys will play their sectional finals this weekend.

Ironton takes on Wheelersburg at 6 p.m. Friday at Jackson. After they clear the gym, Chesapeake will play Minford at 8:30 p.m. Both winners advance to the district semifinals at Ohio University.

On Saturday, South Point plays Oak Hill at 5 p.m. in the Division III tournament at Jackson. Fairland takes on Hillsboro at 8 p.m. in the Division II finals at Chillicothe Southeastern. Winners advance to the district semifinals at Ohio University.
