PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Lady Dragons are beginning to wish games only lasted six innings.

For the second straight game, the Lady Dragons had a lead going in to the seventh inning only to lose.

Jada Jenkins hit a two-out, two-run double in the seventh inning to cap a four-run rally as the Portsmouth Lady Trojans rallied past the Lady Dragons 5-3 on Tuesday.

“We had some opportunities and made some mistakes,” said Fairland coach Joe Auxier. “We hit better, but we’ve got to put our hits together.”

Portsmouth (3-1) got a run in the top of the second only to have Fairland score twice in the bottom of the inning.

Mackenzie Riley reached on an error, Haley Woodall and Ellen Hinshaw singled to load the bases and Chloe Stanley doubled in the two runs.

The Lady Dragons (0-2) made it 3-1 in the fifth inning on walks to Allison Shepherd and Chandler Fulks and a double by Riley.

In the seventh inning, Justice Swords doubled, Gabby Guthrie singled, a walk and a base hit by Jackson tied the game.

Two outs later, Jenkins doubled to drive in the go-ahead runs.

Fairland plays at Coal Grove on Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
