AID — The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings are very efficient.

The Lady Vikings had six hits and scored six runs as they beat the Eastern Lady Eagles 6-5 on Thursday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

“We pounded the ball, but a lot of the time it was right at them,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Odie Estep. “We only had six hits but we had timely hits.”

Eastern went up 2-0 in the top of the first and the Lady Vikings tied the game in their half of the inning when Hannah Roach doubled, Kaitlyn Payne reached on a fielder’s choice and Tiara Hatfield doubled.

The Lady Eagles wet up 4-2 in the third but the Lady Vikings (2-3, 2-1) scored four times in the fifth.

Roach walked, Stephanie Brown singled and Payne had an RBI double. Hatfield singled in a run, a wild pitch scored a run, and then Hannah Maynard and Autumn Keathley each reached on an error as a run scored.

Eastern got a run in the seventh, but Brown shut down the rally.

Brown got the win as she struck out eight and walked only one.

Hatfield went 3-3 to pace the offense.
