From Indianapolis, Ind., to Brookville, Ky., the members of The Four of Us have been all over, singing old-time country music to those in need of a good tune.

For the past six years, Margie and Stanley Stamper, of Flatwoods, Ky., and Clara Mae and Stanley Stark, of Ironton, have taken their “music from the past” to nursing homes, senior centers and family reunions.

Clara Mae Stark said the non-profit group performed 98 shows last year and so far this year have performed 23 shows.

“Word of mouth is how we get so many appointments,” Stark said.

Monday, the group will sing at 10:30 a.m. at the Ironton Senior Center on Park Avenue.

Stark said the group sings county music standards from legends like Loretta Lynn, George Jones, Pasty Cline and even some Frank Sinatra.

“Country music when it was country music,” she said.
