BIDWELL — The Chesapeake Lady Panthers are too generous.

The Lady Panthers were guilty of five errors that led to River Valley’s final seven runs being unearned in a 10-9 Ohio Valley Conference loss on Monday.

“Our girls played hard and they battle, we just make too many mistakes and give away too many runs,” said Chesapeake coach Aaron Rice.

Chesapeake (2-5, 0-4) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Kelsey Huff and Anna Mayo singled and both scored on an error.

After River Valley got three runs in the bottom of the inning, the Lady Panthers got two in the second to lead 4-3.

Alyssa Scott reached on an error, Sidnee Hall singled and Laura Rice had a sacrifice bunt. Huff hit into a fielder’s choice for a run and Macy Allen singled in a run.

The Lady Panthers gave up six unearned runs in the fifth inning as River Valley took a 9-4 lead.

Chesapeake rallied for three runs in the sixth to trail 9-7.

Hall walked, Rice singled and Huff had a two-run double. Jordan Porter followed with an RBI single.

River Valley (5-3, 1-2) got an unearned run in the bottom of the inning to lead 10-7.

The Lady Panthers refused to quit. They scored two runs in the seventh.

Scott and Hall singled and Huff had a two-run double. But River Valley pitcher Noel Mershon got the next batter out to end the game.

Huff went 4-5 with two doubles and five RBIs. Hall was 2-3 as Chesapeake out-hit River Valley 12-10.
