PEDRO — Down but not out.

Trailing 8-0 after two innings, the Rock Hill Redmen rallied to beat the South Point Pointers 13-9 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Wednesday.

“We got the timely hit when we needed it. You need a game like that to show you can come back from a deficit. They kids battled. We got the timely hit when we needed it,” said Rock Hill coach Barry Litteral.

Each team had 12 hits, but the Redmen had nine different batters get hits. Jonah Cox was 3-5, Laden Delawder 2-3 and Jordan Hairston had a double.

South Point (3-3, 2-2) was led by Alex Whitt and Brandon Boggs who each went 3-4. Chris Woodard was 2-3 with a double, Josh Browning 2-4 and Larry Brandon 2-5.

“Everybody in our lineup had a hit. We hit the ball super hard against Gallipolis on Tuesday, but it was right at people. I knew we would hit tonight and we did,” said Litteral.

South Point got four runs each in the first and second innings, but only four were earned.

Rock Hill got a run back in the bottom of the first and then erupted for six runs in the third.

Jordan Hairston doubled in a pair of runs, back-to-back RBI singles by Cox and Delawder and a sacrifice fly by Jack Goodwin highlighted the rally. Two errors produced the other run.

South Point got a run in the fourth to make it 9-7, but the Redmen answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning keyed by Austin Kidd’s two-run single that gave Rock Hill the lead for good at 11-9.
