For 24 years, Tackett’s Body Shop in Ironton has helped drivers get back on the road after routine vehicle maintenance or life’s unfortunate mishaps.

For about the past year, the body shop has offered another service to get people on the road a little faster.

Jane and Roy Tackett, owners of the body shop, were approached by Hertz last year.

The rental car company was looking to expand its services into Lawrence County, Jane Tackett said.

And for the body shop, Tackett said the partnership just made sense.

“We have a lot of customers getting cars done,” Tackett said. “And they need rentals. It’s real convenient for our customers. They used to have to go to Ashland, Ky.”

The Hertz rental cars aren’t just for customers getting their vehicles worked on.

“With summer coming up, a lot of people will be wanting to rent,” Tackett said.

Brandon Thomas, customer service representative, heads up operations of Hertz at the body shop. He said having the Hertz service makes the body shop a one-stop shop for customers needing work on their own vehicles and a temporary conveyance.

The rental business stocks compact, mid-sized and full-sized cars as well as small, mid- and full-sized SUVs. Thomas said convertibles and luxury vehicles can be brought in upon request. Vehicles can also be delivered to a customer and picked up.

“We try to accommodate each customer,” Thomas said.

Thomas also has a hand in making sure the vehicles are maintained with oil changes, inspections and detailing.

Tackett’s Body Shop and Hertz is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and is located at 410 S. Second St.
