GAHANNA — The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings didn’t lack heart, they just lacked a clutch hit.

The Lady Vikings had several scoring opportunities but failed to capitalize as they lost 10-5 to Kenton Ridge and 10-0 in five innings to Sycamore Mohawk at the Gahanna Lincoln Classic on Saturday.

“The kids played hard. We just ran into two good teams and two good pitchers,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep.

“We had bases loaded one and runners at second and third twice in the first game, and was had bases loaded twice and runners at second and third once in the second game. We got runners on, we just couldn’t get the big hit.”

The Lady Vikings had nine hits against Kentton Ridge led by Stephanie Brown who went 3-4 with a double and a home run. Hannan Maynard was 2-4.

In the loss to state power Sycamore Mohawk, Maynard was 2-2 with a pair of doubles as Symmes Valley (10-8) managed six hits.

The Lady Vikings visit Chesapeake on Tuesday.
