AID — This is one repeat that Symmes Valley coach Jeff “Odie” Estep is tried of seeing.

The Lady Vikings left seven runners in scoring position in a 5-2 Southern Ohio Conference loss to the Portsmouth Clay Lady Panthers on Thursday.

Symmes Valley had bases loaded in the fifth and runners at second and third in the fourth and sixth innings.

“We couldn’t get a timely hit. That’s been the story all year,” said Estep.

Autumn Griffith got the win for Clay (14-6, 11-2) and hit a two-run homer in a three-run first inning.

Clay added a run in the fourth to lead 4-0.

The Lady Vikings to a run in the bottom of the inning when Autumn Keathley doubled and scored on two passed balls.

The Lady Panthers got the run back in the top of the fifth but the Lady Vikings got a run in the bottom of the frame when Hannah Maynard doubled, Breanna Morris walked and Chianne Hively singled.

On Wednesday, Green beat the Lady Vikings 6-3 as Jenna Crawford went 4-4 with a home run.

Micah Lewis — who went 2-4 with a double at the plate — pitched a five-hitter for the win. She struck out seven and walked two.

Tiara Hatfield was 2-3 to lead the Lady Vikings.

Symmes Valley visits Eastern on Saturday in a league game.
